Justin Pothier of Hanmer took home the title of Kawasaki Canada’s Team Green Rider of the Year — something no one outside of British Columbia has ever accomplished.

The 15-year-old dirt biker was presented with a 2013 Kawasaki KX250F, as well as $3,000 from Kawasaki Canada for being the Regional Year-End K-Points Series Awards #1 Rider in Ontario. He was presented with his prizes Feb. 12 at Nick’s Sales and Service in Espanola.

Pothier has been riding dirt bikes since he was nine years old but just started racing last year. He started the 2012 season with the goal of always having a podium finish. By the end of the season, Pothier had claimed four different championship titles, including at the 2012 Amateur National Qualifiers, the KTM Super Series, the Champion Series and the MotoPark New Era Motocross Cup.

Pothier practices at the Valley East Motocross Park (VEMP) and is mentored by Serge Solomon, VEMP owner and operator. Pothier is training hard through the winter months to carry forward his success into a year of junior racing.
