Sudbury’s Mitch Gagnon was set to climb into the UFC octagon for his third professional bout March 16 at UFC 158 in Montreal.

However, on Feb. 15, Gagnon announced on Facebook that he had sustained an injury that will put him “out for a while.” Gagnon was to take on Japan’s Issei Tamura in the bantamweight division.

Gagnon’s professional MMA record sits at 9-2. He dropped his UFC debut to Brian Caraway in the UFC 149 “Fight of the Night” last July, but rebounded at UFC 152 on Sept. 22, 2012, tapping out Walel Watson with a rear-naked choke in 69 seconds. It marked his first UFC victory.
