Wolves season wraps up with series sweep
The Sudbury Wolves saw their 2012-13 Ontario Hockey League season come to a halt April 11 as the Belleville Bulls defeated the Pack by a score of 5-0 to clinch the best-of-seven series 4-0.
The visitors would get on the scoreboard first at the 11:45 minute mark of the frame when Daniil Zharkov fired one past Wolves Goaltender Franky Palazzese. Austen Brassard would add to the Bulls lead less than four minutes later when he put one upstairs past Palazzese to give the Bulls a 2-0 lead heading into the break. Despite trailing 2-0, the Wolves held the edge in shots in the first period by a 9-6 margin.
The second period would remain scoreless until the 16:36 minute mark of the frame when Zharkov finished off a beautiful passing play with Tyler Graovac to give the Bulls a 3-0 lead heading into the second intermission. The Bulls would outshoot the Wolves in the second frame by a 12-11 margin.
The Bulls would extend their lead to 4-0 3:15 into the third frame when Graovac put one past Palazzese for his second goal of the evening. Aaron Berisha would all but seal the deal for the Bulls 19 seconds later as he scored to give the Bulls a commanding 5-0 lead. The Bulls would outshoot the Wolves by a 12- 7 margin in the period.
Sudbury Wolves captain Michael Kantor was named the first star of the game.
