Track North alumnus and Lively native, Ross Proudfoot, set a new personal best in the 1,500-metre race at the Payton Jordan-Cardinal Invite this past weekend at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.

Proudfoot’s time of 3:41.11 seconds placed him seventh in the event but pushed him to number one in the national rankings for athletes attempting to qualify for the World University Games (FISU) this summer in Russia.

Canadian university athletes have until May 19 to beat the FISU standard of 3:45.  The top two ranked athletes will be selected to represent Canada at FISU, which will be held in Kazan, Russia, July 6 to 17.

Proudfoot has just completed his third year of studies at the University of Guelph.
