Age: 33

Why I joined Team D: I wanted to help support a cause that is dear to me. To get a chance to travel and set goals for myself in order to do this, was an amazing bonus. Diabetes has been a family health issue for as long as I can remember, but over the past few years, one of my dearest friends was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the young age of 21. Together we will race, as we help the fight against
diabetes.

Goals: This is my first half marathon, so crossing the finish line Oct. 20 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, as well as raising $6,100 for diabetes, will be great accomplishments. My goal is to cross the finish line with my dear friend, Marie-France, no matter how long it takes us. I’ll be by her side the whole way. We are aiming for three hours time. This will take much dedication on both our parts, to keep pushing and training in order to see this through.

How I’m raising funds: As a nutrition and wellness consultant and true foodie, I decided to start with a recipe book. The recipes in my “Ame Coquine” book are all originals or family favourites, adjusted to a healthier and diabetic-friendly version. I am presently taking orders and will also be selling them May 11 at the Wahnapetei Community Center. You also can reach me by e-mail at mjscl.dupuis@gmail.com for orders or more information, or go to the Team Diabetes website  and pledge a participant (Josee Dupuis). Thanks to everyone for the amazing response and support!
